FRESH FRIDAY: Crackdown 2

This weeks new release is the sequel to 2007’s sandbox shooter, Crackdown. The original Crackdown was developed by Realtime Worlds (the brains behind the recently released All Points Bulletin), while the  sequel was developed by the relatively new Scottish studio Ruffian games.

If you never got round to playing the original crackdown, its most likely you’ll enjoy roaming around Pacific city where you’ll spend most of your time jumping from rooftop to rooftop collecting those little green agility orbs, but for those of you that played the original be prepared for more of the same gameplay in a pretty much identical setting to that of Crackdown 1.

The graphical side of the game isn’t much to sream about either,  there’s been slight improvements over the first one but nothing too major. One thing however which is quite enjoyable is the 4 player completive co-op mode, where you can drive around till your hearts content running over your buddies in one of the many agency tanks.

All in all it seems like Ruffian have decided not to stray too far away from the original crackdown formula, which is why if you played the original you may not be too impressed. However if you never got round to playing the original Crackdown then CD2 should easily keep a good few of your gaming sessions filled up nicely.

Price wise, the cheapest i’ve managed to find CD2 is on where you can pick up a copy for £37.75.
